Make sure that you watch for the "sending" message after you input your answer. If it does not finish sending within several seconds, just select another answer and when "sends" it re-select your original answer.
If you come across a problem that you don't know how to do click on "Leave a note for the teacher" and leave your message about what you don't understand in the problem.
Make sure that you check to make sure there are not two or more sections to the lesson you are working on (it is at the top of the screen with boxes labeled "section1" "section2" etc). If there is more than one section, of course, you need to do them before clicking on "Finish assignment".
